On the 9th June, Kazoku-Kan took a team of students over to Erdington Academy to participate in the Mix and Match competition. Felicity Warburton managed to claim Gold in her category, which consisted of an all-male line up, coming up against some tough competition but held her own for the win. Dylan Moore who was up to fight next, despite being one of the smallest and lightest in his category managed a stunning backwards counter throw to earn the Bronze medal. Matthew Kenny, gave his opponents a rough time on the Tatami to walk away with the Bronze medal also.


Joshua Warburton, showing some true grit in his competition, gave his opponents a hard time when in groundwork contest and fought his way to his Bronze medal. Liam Jones, coming into his second Senior contest, was matched up against much higher graded opponents than himself, showing that he belongs in the tougher categories and escaping a well-executed leg grab, managed to come away with the Bronze medal.


Head Instructor Rich Morrish said: “It never fails to bring a smile to my face to see the grace and positive attitude these kids bring to these events, they are a joy to teach and they are showing that training pays off. Our instructing team are very proud of their accomplishments and they are a credit to the Club.” Kazoku-Kan Judo Club train every Monday at St. Peters First School, Droitwich Spa from 6.30pm.
