Adaptive and Green & Under a Huge success!

On 30th June, Kazoku-Kan Judo Club held it’s first ever Adaptive championship which was held alongside it’s annual Green and Under championship. Players travelled from County Durham, Erdington, Sheffield, Nottingham and Worcestershire to compete in both of the competitions. Liam Jones managed to score Silver after fighting 2 Dan Grade players in his contests, showing great determination and managing to show some great techniques. Liam Grindrod in his first contest in over 2 years also scooped the Silver medal when he came across his opponents and executing well timed techniques and tight hold downs. Sophie Kenny fighting in a groundwork based contest managed some great technique to win by hold down for the Ippon win. Dylan Moore was next to compete, despite being the smallest fighter of the day, he battled his way to earn a Bronze medal. Matthew Kenny fought well in his contest and came away with Bronze as well.


Joshua Warburton was placed in both contests and putting himself out there came away with two Bronze medals. Corey Chapman also entered into both contests put in some great effort, in what was to be the contest that had everyone in the room smiling, left the Tatami with double Bronze. Felicity Warburton grabbed the Bronze in her contests also, putting up a good fight to earn her medal. James Worsfold fought hard in his category and returned with the bronze as well.


Mark Kelley from Bear Park Judo Club managed to grab the Gold in the Adaptive category, and Connor Etherton from Miramar Judo Club also managed to secure the Gold. Stanley Walker from Rush Judo was placed into both contests, fought really well to be recognised as player of the day and came away with Gold in both competitions. Kai Barnett from Miramar had some great fights and managed to capture silver in both of the competitions as well. Ryan Fitches from Southfields Judo Club fought well in his pool of players and came away with Bronze.


Kazoku-Kan Head instructor Rich Morrish says:- “Just wanted to extend a massive thank you to everyone that attended our competition, it was a fun day with some excellent Judo on display. Was an honour to host our first Adaptive contest as well and see what potential had come along to take part. I am extremely proud of everyone that entered the competitions, I am looking forward to re-running the fun next year.”
